Transport Show 2009, April 22 - 26, 2009

The finest array of restored vintage and contemporary cars came out in full force at the Transport Show 2009 which opened last April 22 to 26, 2009 at the Megatrade Hall of SM Megamall, Building B, Mandaluyong City.

Organized by TradeShow International, Inc. (TSI), Trans Sport Show has drawn the support and participation of Filipino car aficionados and craftsmen who display a keen passion for automobiles. Among the repeat participants this year, for instance, is renowned Filipino sculptor, Ramon Orlina, who will be showcasing an even more interesting VW Beetle.

“Trans Sport Show has always maintained a good number of vintage cars to show every year, combined with the contemporary custom cars,” TSI President Sophie delos Santos said. Indeed, since its inception in 1992 as a general automotive show, Trans Sport Show has evolved into one of the most popular automotive events that car-savvy individuals swarm to. It is the longest running motoring event in the country that car enthusiasts of all ages could easily identify with.

A key attraction of the prestigious car show was the Trans Sport Show Cup Competition, which has modern and vintage “show cars” competing for the “Best of Show” award. With each passing year, Trans Sport Show ups the ante as far as “show cars” vying to meet topnotch standards of automobile restoration is concerned.

San Lazaro Car Festival Thoroughbred 2009, March 21 - 22, 2009

The Manila Jockey Club, Inc.in cooperation with the PAGCOR Club San Lazaro staged an exciting auto show entitled “Thoroughbred 2009 - San Lazaro Car Festival” last March 21 and 22, 2009 at the San Lazaro Leisure Park in Carmona, Cavite.

The two-day event was highlighted by “Pimp my Ride” raffle contest wherein the grand winner was awarded a car make-over package.  Other activities included bikini car wash, DJ Chill out Session, a car accessories bazaar and live bands.

The Great Rides, Great Buys @ Auction Manila, February 27 - March 1, 2009

Auction Manila will be presenting “The Great Rides, Great Buys @ Auction Manila” on February 27, 28 and March 1, 2009 at HK Sun Plaza along Macapagal and Roxas Boulevard.

The three-day event will feature the “Great Rides Car Show”, real-time and live internet car auctions, the “Auction Manila Warehouse Party”, stage performances, a fashion show, bands, and dancers aim to liven up the atmosphere as a DJ plays lively music the whole day.

Auction Manila is a Philippine-based company, established with the aim of redefining the approach of doing auctions locally. Through the application of advance technologies, sophisticated auction site design, and world-class services, Auction Manila will surely be the future of buy-and-sell businesses. REV UP, 14th Diliman Motorshow, February 21, 2009

The University of the Philippines Gears and Pinions (UPGPs) held REV UP, The 14th Diliman Motorshow last February 21, 2009, Saturday, at the College of Engineering, University of the Philippines.  The motorshow highlighted the grand week-long celebrations entitled “The M.E. Days 2009” on February 16-21, 2009, at UP Diliman.

The premier event of the ME Days, the Diliman Motorshow with almost over 50 participants last year, attracts various car enthusiasts all over Luzon. What used to be biennial in the ’90s has turned into an annual event due to popular demand and the publicity that comes along with it. Aside from the car show, there will also be a miniature car exhibit, RC drift competition, loudmatch (Sound Pressure League), and get-togethers for different car clubs.

The Mechanical Engineering Days is a week-long celebration that aims to bring together the UP ME faculty and staff and UP ME majors, as well as other UP students—affiliated or nonaffiliated, ME students from other universities and colleges, and people from outside the academe. The event also aims to foster healthy competition among its participants, and good work and play atmosphere among all people involved.

The University of the Philippines Gears and Pinions (UPGPs) is the leading organization in UP Diliman for Mechanical Engineering students. Established in 1955, UPGPs continues to promote excellence and competence among UP Mechanical Engineering students through organized activities and interactions.
